The Wedgeport Sport Tuna Fishing Museum and Interpretive Center

Located at 57 Tuna Wharf Road Highway 334, Lower Wedgeport (renowned Tuna Capital of the World).

The Wedgeport Sport Tuna Fishing Museum officially opened in 1996. Inside you will find show cases filled with mementos, photos from the glory days of sport tuna fishing, trophies, fishing rods on display, and a mock tuna fishing boat with the original tuna fighting chair. The museum also features other exhibits including some Acadian history, Wedgeport history, and a 32 pound mounted lobster.

Mission Statement

The Wedgeport Sport Tuna Fishing Museum promotes an appreciation and understanding for the history, traditions and practices of the Sport of Tuna Fishing in Wedgeport. We preserve, exhibit, and interpret the artifacts, photos collections, literature and archives of the past of the Sport of Tuna fishing. We use all our resources to engage participation, to educate and benefit one and all.
